We are checking the latest mid-range phone from OPPO!

Equipped with better functions and a higher price, the latest line of the A-series from OPPO has moved into the middle range and displaced the F-series, which is currently MIA. The new, updated A9 (2020) has a high-resolution camera, a large battery and an appealing exterior and is ready to compete with countless other mid-range cell phones.

But is the latest OPPO phone good enough to stand up to the best?
Packaging and content
The usual things are in the white box of the A9 (2020): the phone itself, the transparent jelly case, the SIM ejector tool, the 10 W charger, the USB-C cable and the headset.

The highest quality A series to date
The A9 (2020) is by far the most beautiful and best-looking phone in the A-series, which borrows design elements from the F11 from OPPO, including a centrally placed camera module, the revised OPPO logo in the lower center and an elongated fingerprint scanner directly under the camera module.

The camera module houses the high-resolution 48-megapixel main camera, the 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and the 2-megapixel portrait camera of the A9 (2020), while there is a 2-megapixel mono camera directly underneath. The LED flashes.

Since the A9 (2020) has a large camera bump, we recommend that you use the included clear case to protect it from bumps and accidental scratches that occur when you place the phone on rough surfaces. OPPO has optimized the gradient finish of the A9 (2020) to include a subtle holographic effect to make the phone stand out from the rest of the competition. The Marine Green review unit we were awarded had subtle color shifts from black (in the middle) to green (towards the edges) depending on how the light hits its surface.

The curves of the A9 (2020) are reminiscent of the R17 Pro and help handle this fairly large and thick phone. The port layout is similar to that of its predecessor, although the A9 (2020) MicroUSB for USB-C is finally superfluous - finally, OPPO is bringing this modern port to its cheaper line.
Disappointing screen resolution, but these stereo speakers are loud
While the A9 (2020) comes with a generous 6.5-inch display, we're disappointed that it's the only HD + resolution. The resolution of the phone is a big obstacle for people who want to buy the phone as other phones in its price range (sometimes even cheaper) have Full HD + panels. On the other hand, the colors look livelier compared to previous models of the A-series, and the viewing angles are generous overall.

The stereo speakers of the A9 (2020) are very loud when it comes to the loudspeakers so that you receive razor-sharp audio data even at 80% volume. Dolby Atmos is enabled by default and will help you optimize your audio when using a pair of wired sockets.
Internals can do most everyday tasks
The A9 (2020) is powered by Qualcomm's 11nm Snapdragon 665 processor with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. This is the first time that an A-series phone has been equipped with a Snapdragon 600-series processor, and the generous amount of memory support helps it do most of the tasks with no problems. Don't be fooled by the AnTuTu score. The A9 (2020) can handle the most popular games as well. Check the benchmark results below:

Save for Asphalt 9—which still has issues with Snapdragon 665-powered phones, the A9 (2020) can handle titles like PUBG Mobile, NBA 2K20, and Call of Duty with an average of at least 25FPS at a minimum of 70% stability on the highest graphics settings. If you want to play NBA 2K20 and Call of Duty at more than 30FPS, you will need to tone down the graphics settings.
