Here you will find alternatives with which you can still keep in touch with your loved ones

Facebook is struggling under the load of traffic as people around the world use the application to stay connected with friends and family during the coronavirus pandemic.

So far, the social network has managed to maintain operations. It has minimized video quality for users in Europe to cope with increased demand and has also fired many of the contract workers who monitor and moderate the content.

Anyone reporting a post to the moderators will now see a warning that the team is currently under increased pressure and that content should only be reported if it is clearly a significant violation of Facebook's terms of use.

"COVID-19 usage growth is unprecedented across the industry, and we're seeing new usage records almost every day," said Alex Schultz, vice president of analytics for Facebook, and Jay Pareikh, vice president of infrastructure, in a statement *.

In the countries most affected by coronavirus, total message traffic has increased by up to 50% and the number of voice and video calls has more than doubled.

Alternatives to Facebook
If you're looking for a Facebook alternative to keep in touch with loved ones, there are many options available to you. WhatsApp (also from Facebook) is a particularly good replacement for Facebook Messenger, because it allows you to make video calls for free and you can easily stay in touch with large groups in text chats. So you can communicate comfortably with your grandparents and let them participate in your life without risk. How do I use WhatsApp? *

Zoom video conferencing is another great option. Sure, you can't send text messages here, but you can make free video calls to up to 99 other people. Calls are limited to 40 minutes, unless the call host upgrades to a paid account. But this is a good opportunity to have a quick chat and make sure all of your friends, colleagues and loved ones are safe and in good hands. How do I use Zoom? *

Skype is another good choice - for both text chats and multi-party video calls. It is very easy to use, as the user interface was completely redesigned last year and calls to other Skype users are completely free. You can even call mobile and landline when you buy some Skype Credit, which is usually cheaper than using your actual phone. How do I use Skype? *

All the tips and tools you need to work better from home

For some people, the idea of working from home is an absolute dream. You save yourself the way to the office, can work comfortably from your own chair and have a little more flexibility in how and when you work. First of all, you will find that working in the home office takes some getting used to and that one of the most difficult things is to develop self-discipline for the work, but also to teach others at home that they should not bother you.

  • The best webcams for the home office
  • The best free office software

While it is preferable to office work in many ways, it is important to do it from home in the right way and with the right tools, otherwise you risk being incredibly unproductive. Working from home inevitably means working online and taking advantage of some of the cloud's capabilities. Which tools you need depends on the type of work you do, but there are some programs and options that apply to most people.

Here we have put together some tips and instructions for the software that you may find useful and show you the functions of Windows 10 that are particularly helpful.

1. Use the notification assistant to avoid distractions

There are more distractions at home, so it makes sense to do everything you can to stay focused. Windows 10 includes a feature called Notification Assistant that limits the number of notifications, helping you focus on what's important. To do this, click the notification button on the far right of the taskbar and then the notification assistant icon to switch between alarm mode, priority mode or off.

2. Separate your areas with virtual desktops

If you use a home computer for work, you are likely to have both personal and business files and applications. You can use virtual desktops to keep them separate for simplicity, but also to avoid distractions. Press [Windows] + [Ctrl] + [D] to create a new desktop, and [Windows] + [Ctrl] and the arrow keys to switch between them. You can also press [Windows] + [Tab] to access the Task View, which lists all virtual desktops at the top of the screen.

3. Stay organized with Microsoft To Do

There are many applications that can be used to manage projects and task lists, but Microsoft To Do is one of the best - especially after it has taken over a lot from Wunderlist. With To Do you can not only manage your own workload, but also work together on projects by sharing your tasks and task lists with colleagues. You can download the app for free from the Microsoft Store, and there are also mobile apps for working on the go.

4. Hold video conferencing with zoom

While you can stay in touch with your colleagues over the phone, video conferencing is often the better option. You can use the zoom free of charge for meetings of up to 40 minutes and with up to 100 participants. In addition to video and voice chat, you can also send text-based messages, use a shared whiteboard and share the content of the screen with others. You might even like it more than an ordinary meeting!

5. Share your files via the cloud

There are guaranteed to be times when you will have to work with others, even if you work from home. This often means that you have to share files with colleagues, and while you can email files back and forth, it's much easier to use something like Google Drive. Not only can you store files in the cloud and share them with others, you can also edit them online and even collaboratively edit them with Google Docs, Sheets and Slides at the same time.

6. Manage your time with PowerPom

The time management method known as the Pomodoro technique has been around for decades. It helps you get the job done without getting bored, draining, or forgetting to take breaks. Using a special time measurement technique, the entire work can be divided into individual, manageable steps so that you can concentrate better. There are many tools that use this technique, but one of the best is PowerPom, which can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Store.

7. Protect yourself with antivirus software

Working from home inevitably means working online, and the more time you spend online, the greater the risk of exposure to viruses and malware - so it's more important than ever to be protected. Windows 10 includes numerous protective functions in Windows security within the settings, but it's a good idea to complement them with free or paid antivirus software to not only protect against malware, but also block malicious websites.

Are you still not feeling safe enough? Perhaps it's time to download a VPN for your PC and take advantage of encrypted traffic and no-logs policies.

8. Secure your work with backups

Backing up your files is always important, but if you have both personal and business files on the same computer, you have a double incentive. You can use the Google Drive backup & sync software, but the free online storage space for backups may not be enough for you. A free option for offline backups is EaseUS Todo Backup Free, which offers a range of backup options, including scheduling so you don't have to worry about manually creating backups.

If the smartphone battery smokes or even an electric car catches fire: What should you do? How do you put out the fire? And how do you avoid a battery fire from the start? We asked two experts from the Munich fire department.

How do you delete a burning smartphone or e-scooter battery - for example as in this case? How should you store batteries? Why do batteries burn? What should electric car owners watch out for if they notice a fire in their vehicle? We asked the fire department in Munich.

The answers came from Christian Emrich, head of the "Li-ion storage media" working group of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Berufsfeuerwehren (AGBF) and the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV), and from Felix Menzinger, M.Eng., Fire chief inspector at the district administration department of the City of Munich. Both experts are referred to in the article as "Feuerwehr München".

Is an old, probably completely discharging battery from a smartphone or notebook that has not been switched on for years still a source of danger? Should you remove the battery (as far as possible) if you want to keep the device for a long time, for example in a museum or as a memory?

Fire department Munich: A deeply discharged Li-ion battery may start to react when trying to recharge. However, this statement cannot be generalized, since the batteries can have different structures and chemically different compositions, and the quality of the batteries can differ greatly. Furthermore, the quality of the charger also plays a decisive role here (e.g. original charger or "purchased part"?) And the fact whether a battery is already "damaged". In this context, special reference is made to the respective operating instructions or instructions from the manufacturer.

Removing batteries that are no longer required from devices that are no longer to be used may reduce the likelihood of fire. Special care should be taken to ensure that batteries that are no longer required are properly disposed of (no disposal with normal residual waste / domestic waste).

How big / high is the flame caused by the fire of a battery, for example in an indoor surveillance camera or in a smartphone?

This question cannot be answered in general, since the course of fire of the batteries varies, for example, depending on the basic structure (pouch cell, cylindrical cell, prismatic cell), the chemical composition and the state of charge. In practice, it can be determined that in almost all cases of fire it is not just a matter of reacting the battery, but as a result of the reaction other furnishings can catch fire and the course of the fire in the then prevailing room fire "overlaps" the course of the battery.

How big is the fire hazard from lithium-ion batteries at home?

Feuerwehr München: Basically, with good manufacturing standards, certified charging and cell monitoring systems and proper handling, lithium-ion storage media can be classified as sufficiently safe.

How should you store lithium-ion batteries at home?

Even with the storage of relatively small quantities of lithium-ion storage media that catch fire, the fire can spread very quickly. Burning parts can be thrown around due to the sometimes explosive burning. For this reason, special attention must be paid to the structural partitioning between fire compartments or rooms with stored new and old batteries.

What circumstances lead to a battery fire in smart home devices and smartphones?

There can be different reasons for the ignition of a battery. Mechanical damage, for example, if the smartphone battery falls on the floor, can lead to internal short circuits. Overcharging can lead to electrical wear and tear (electrical stress). And an increase in temperature (thermal stress), for example as a result of a fire, can also lead to battery damage.

Is it really best to extinguish a burning lithium-ion battery with water? So specifically: if a smartphone is on the floor, then pour a bucket of water over it? Or can you smother the fire with a pillow/blanket? Can you use a powder or foam extinguisher?

The extinguishing agent of choice is water. Burning small batteries or small rechargeable batteries should be extinguished with water for as long as possible. At the end of the fire, they must be stored in a container under water until they are handed over to a qualified disposal company.

Asphyxiation using pillows, sand, CO2 or other extinguishing agents does not work because the chemical processes must be cooled. The oxygen that the combustion process needs is already chemically bound in the cells. Therefore "covering / suffocating" the source of the fire does not help.

After extinguishing, the fire brigade monitors the lithium-ion battery, for example with thermal imaging cameras. Since back ignition cannot be ruled out, the battery should be moved to a safe place.

Important: When a lithium-ion battery is burned, carcinogenic hydrocarbons, hydrofluoric acid and heavy metal deposits can develop. Avoid contact and do not inhale the gases.
Regarding operational questions in the household, the recommendation is the same as for any technical device: the operating instructions and instructions of the manufacturer must be followed, because each "battery" is built somewhat differently. Basically, quality is the main factor for security. This starts with the production up to the charger in everyday life.

In general, users should always call the fire brigade via "112" if smoke develops and then take extinguishing measures with water or water or foam fire extinguishers. However, only as far as they do not endanger themselves!

When the electric car burns ...

If an electric car is on fire - can you, as a driver, delete anything yourself? Actually you can only flee and call 112, right?

This question can only be answered in a differentiated way. If there is a fire within the engine compartment or in the passenger compartment, extinguishing measures that are initiated with portable fire extinguishers may lead to success. It must be mentioned here that not every fire of an e-car actually drives the battery in the fire.

In general, users should always call the fire brigade via "112" if smoke develops and then take extinguishing measures with water or water or foam fire extinguishers. However, only as far as they do not endanger themselves!

Is an electric car burning more than a car with an internal combustion engine?

Fire Brigade Munich: No. Certified electric vehicles pose largely comparable dangers to vehicles with other types of drive (fuel, gas). The fire performance is also comparable.

How does the fire department extinguish a burning electric car?

Fire department Munich: electric cars are extinguished with water. If the fire is apparently extinguished, the vehicle battery must be monitored further with a thermal imager in order to be able to counter reignition in good time.

To help slow the spread of the corona virus, Lime is stopping vehicle rental in numerous countries around the world.

Lime, the e-scooter rental company, is drawing its conclusions from the global corona virus pandemic this week. In order to slow the spread of the virus and thereby protect the risk groups in particular, the company discontinues the rental of e-scooters and bicycles in numerous countries in Europe and the Middle East as well as the USA and Canada. The rental stop is valid in Europe among others in Germany, France, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Great Britain. In the United States, a total of 21 states such as New York, California and Texas are affected by the temporary closure of the rental business.

In some cities and countries, including Rio de Janeiro, Seoul, Sydney and Abu Dhabi, Lime's e-scooter and bike rental remains active for the time being. If the recommendations of the responsible health authorities are tightened there too, Lime plans to temporarily suspend its business. Lime says it has tightened hygiene precautions in countries where the rental business is still active. For example, vehicles are cleaned and disinfected more often, while employees have to wear gloves and are required to wash their hands frequently. Lime also recommends that customers wear gloves while driving the rental scooters and disinfect them before starting their journey.

Your car needs an urgent repair. Is that still possible during the corona crisis? And what about buying a car?

Especially if you want to avoid public transport due to the SARS-CoV2 coronavirus and the Covid19 pandemic caused by it, the recently frequently criticized means of transport, car, is gaining in importance again - regardless of whether it is petrol, diesel, electricity, natural gas, LPG or even hydrogen running. But what to do if the car has a defect? Can I then bring it to the workshop for repair? And can you rent a rental car? Can you still go to a car dealer and buy a new car there?

Auto repairs and maintenance are still possible. Of course, the auto repair shops take protective measures when accepting the order, as can also be seen in supermarkets, for example. But a broken car can currently be brought to the workshop and repaired at any time. The industry news portal KFZ Vogel reports.

A.T.U wants to start emergency workshop operations in Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in ten regional focus branches. A.T.U stopped operating the branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on March 20. The number of A.T.U branches with a workshop emergency operation is to be gradually expanded depending on the location. Primarily, the work focuses on urgent automotive services, which usually cannot be postponed. According to A.T.U, the vehicles of emergency and care services, police, fire brigade and authorities have priority. The connected shops with car accessories remain closed. It is best for customers to contact an emergency workshop via www.atu.de.

Overview of A.T.U branches with emergency operation:

Berlin 11, Halenseestr. 35, 10711 Berlin
Dresden 3, Washingtonstr. 10, 01139 Dresden
Düsseldorf 3, Südring 119, 40221 Düsseldorf
Filderstadt, Felix-Wankel-Str. 32, 70794 Filderstadt-Bernhausen
Frankfurt 2, Mainzer Landstr. 631, 65933 Frankfurt / Main
Hamburg 6, Stresemannstr. 297, 22769 Hamburg
Cologne 4, Duerener Str. 411, 50858 Cologne
Leipzig 4, Dieskaustr. 131, 04249 Leipzig
Munich 2, Triebstr. 39, 80993 Munich
Stuttgart 2, Ulmer Str. 225, 70327 Stuttgart

The situation is different with the stationary and commercial sale of cars: This is currently prohibited in car dealerships, but may be continued online and by telephone. Private advertisements are still possible on the usual online platforms such as autoscout.de or mobile.de. How a sales talk and test drive then takes place in view of the nationwide ban on contacts is a completely different question. According to Mobile.de, private car sales are not currently expressly prohibited. However, there may be problems with the admission because the admissions office is closed.

The new MacBook Air has been improved in many ways

FIRST CONCLUSION

As for cheap MacBooks, Apple seems to have focused well on what users want - a lower price. The performance and build quality appear to be quite strong in our first tests, and only a slightly subdued color rendering of the screen tarnishes the water. However, that's only a minor disadvantage, and overall Apple seems to be performing well for the MacBook Air 2020.

BENEFITS

Low entry price
New 10th generation processors
Improved keyboard

DISADVANTAGE

Screen colors somewhat subdued

The Apple MacBook Air 2020: newest and cheapest laptop from a company that is not exactly known for the production of inexpensive devices.

Apple has a reputation for producing more premium products. But Apple wants to show that it can also offer compelling devices at a price that is more convenient for the vast majority of us who can't afford a MacBook Pro.

These concerted efforts probably started with last year's model, the MacBook Air (2019), which came on the market at a lower price than any MacBook Air before.

What is impressive is that Apple has continued this trend by offering the MacBook Air 2020 at an even lower starting price, while the model's specifications have been further improved from last year.

So if you think you have to compromise too much on the MacBook Air 2019, this year's model might be the answer to all of your concerns.

MacBook Air 2020: Price and Availability

As we mentioned earlier, the MacBook Air (2020) was launched at a new, affordable price.

The entry-level MacBook Air is equipped with a 10th generation dual-core Intel Core i3 processor, 256 GB of memory (compared to 128 GB in the previous model) and 8 GB of RAM - at a price of € 1,199.

That's a decent saving, considering that the entry-level MacBook Air (2019) was launched for € 1,299. In the age of rising costs, it is really gratifying that Apple is bringing newer hardware onto the market at cheaper prices. May it stay that way for a long time!

Apple has also released a high-end MacBook Air for € 1,499, which includes a 10th generation quad-core Intel Core i5 processor - the first quad-core processor in a MacBook Air -, 512 GB SSD storage and 8 GB RAM included.

The MacBook Air 2020 can now be ordered from the Apple Store. Apple says it will also be available in stores from March 23, although we're not sure if this will be the case because Apple stores worldwide are currently closed.

MacBook Air 2020: Design

The new MacBook Air is not radically redesigned (at least externally) in this year's model. And you are probably wondering what reasons there are to mess with such a successful design. We all know: never change a running system.

The MacBook Air, as the name suggests, remains impressively thin and light with the dimensions of 30.41 x 21.24 x 1.61 cm. This is a slightly thicker construction than the 2019 model, and this year's MacBook Air 2020 also weighs a little more at 1.29 kg (compared to the 1.25 kg of the 2019 model).

Not surprisingly, holding the MacBook Air feels light. So it's exactly what you'd expect from Apple's lightest laptop. Only the iPad would be even lighter, but the combination of the recycled aluminum housing and the thinner frame means that it is super easy to put in a pocket. And: the MacBook Air still has the same premium brushed surface that has adorned the MacBooks for years.

Even if the new MacBook Air 2020 and its predecessors are not very different in appearance, the biggest (and most welcome) change you will find as soon as you open it. Apple finally replaced the keyboard with a design. It uses a new scissor mechanism, which is said to be more reliable than the older MacBooks with Butterfly Keyboard.

The new Magic Keyboard in the Apple MacBook Air 2020 was first introduced in last year's MacBook Pro 16-inch *, and we were already huge fans back then.

This new keyboard offers a 1mm key travel for responsive typing, and the arrow keys are now arranged in an inverted "T" shape, making them more intuitive to use.

There's also a separate delete key (something that many people wanted) and a Touch ID fingerprint scanner for biometric login to macOS.

The keyboard may feel sturdy and easy to use - especially the key spacing still makes typing the right key an easy experience that even non-MacBook users will quickly get used to - but it still feels as if it could go a little deeper.

This is a largely subjective opinion, but a little more bounce would have been welcome this year. The keyboard is a little cramped than on a larger MacBook Pro, and the newly configured arrow keys take a moment longer to make sure you press the right key. But we will find out whether we are still misled by this feeling or whether we will soon get used to using the new MacBook Air.

As for the screen, however, nothing has changed since last year's model. It has a 13.3-inch screen with LED backlighting, IPS technology and a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,600. This results in a pixel density of 227 pixels per inch for a sharp image quality.

As with the 2019 model, the display of the MacBook Air 2020 is equipped with True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the color temperature shown on the screen to the ambient light.

TrueTone is a nice feature that has made a real difference on iPhones and iPads for years. It's one of those features you only notice when you turn it off, but essentially it makes the display a little warmer.

It would have been nice to see HDR support here, but for the price (which is really convenient for a new MacBook), we can understand why it wasn't implemented.

MacBook Air 2020: Performance

We used the base model of MacBook Air - probably the version that many people will choose - i.e. the dual-core Intel i3 chipset as the heart.

We found the performance in our first test quite impressive - even if we load the RAM-hungry Chrome, fill it with 25 tabs, and then try to edit photos on the page.

We noticed very little slowdown when switching between tasks - even with the addition of a video call, everything went well, albeit with the necessary support from a fan to keep things cool.

The speakers of the new MacBook Air deserve a good mention - with "Ford vs. Ferrari" the vocal clarity was clear even when they were confronted with loud, crunching car noises. The screen technology isn't exactly for entertainment, but the sound output is (and there is still a headphone jack on board!).

In standby mode, the impact on the battery is pretty minimal - we hardly saw a drop in battery life overnight. Although it should be remembered that it is still a new MacBook Air, so it will work at maximum performance - but early testing suggests that the new MacBook Air 2020's battery life appears to be quite robust (if you use Safari as your main web browser).

MacBook Air 2020: First Conclusion

The new MacBook Air is much more than you'd expect - it's a refreshed and revised version of last year's model, with some performance and performance upgrades in key spots.

We are fans of the price cut and it shows that Apple is really optimizing how it positions its laptops in the market - much like the latest "base model" iPad, the new MacBook Air feels like there is an obvious place at the bottom of the range for those who don't want to spend large sums of money.

It's a more compact device, and if you upgrade from a four or five year old device, you may feel that things are a bit cramped at first - but from the hinge mechanism to the improved keyboard response, most will consider this one feel significant upgrade.

We look forward to continuing to put this device through its paces. As soon as we have formed a comprehensive opinion, we will update this MacBook Air 2020 review. Stay tuned!

If you can still find the MacBook Air 2019 - last year's version - at a significantly cheaper price, then you should definitely access it. However, if you want the latest laptop from the MacBook range from Apple, you seem to get a good price-performance ratio with the new variant.

The Xbox Series X is slated to be launched in late 2020, but due to the Covid 19 pandemic, there have been rumors that the next Xbox's release date will be delayed. Fortunately, it looks like this will not be the case.

In an interview with CNBC (via GamesRadar), asking whether Microsoft would still be able to deliver products by 2020, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said: "The supply chain is starting up again".

It's welcome news as fans and analysts feared that the next generation console would be delayed - along with other upcoming Microsoft products like the Surface Duo.

PS5: release date, specs and rumors
Xbox Series X vs. PS5: What we know so far
Xbox Series X games: All confirmed and suspected games for the new Xbox
Much of Microsoft's production is in China, the country most affected by the corona virus. But as the Asian outbreak gradually subsides and manufacturers get back on track, it seems that Microsoft has been able to avoid major delays.

However, the company is still financially affected by the pandemic. In a February update, Microsoft revealed that the corona virus has affected Windows OEM and Surface products "more than previously thought" and the company does not expect to reach its financial forecast for the third quarter of this year.

"We have an excellent balance sheet, we are a very diverse company, we have a mix of annual and non-annual payments that is even stronger than last time we were in a financial crisis," Nadella told CNBC when he was asked how the company is doing in the midst of the pandemic. "I am confident that, frankly, we will get out of this crisis fairly well."

It's not confirmed that we won't see Xbox Series X delayed - but it looks rather unlikely. It remains to be seen whether there will be any delays in Surface products, as the company announced in its report last month that the "Personal Computing" division was affected.

What about a PS5 delay?

There has also been speculation about a delay in the PS5, but a Sony PR recently told Dutch magazine LetsGoDigital that the PS5's release date has not changed due to the evolving global situation.

While it looks like both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will hit the market in late 2020 as planned, it's worth noting that the situation is evolving and could change.

Here's how to find out if your Samsung TV supports Disney Plus.

Disney Plus is finally here. It was a long and painful wait for viewers outside the United States and the Netherlands - and: there is still a serious risk of not being able to escape the spoiler reports, especially for new programs such as The Mandalorian *, which have already been launched in said countries Months ago.

However, if you hope to be able to stream Disney Plus on a Samsung TV, there are limits to be aware of. This may mean that your device may be too old to support the brand new Disney Plus app.

Samsung has confirmed * that new Samsung TVs launched in 2016 will perfectly support the service. The app will be available for download on Samsung's Tizen Smart TV * platform - or pre-installed on the 2020 models - and will be compatible with the intelligent Bixby Assistant * for voice control options.

This is not unusual in itself: modern apps and streaming services are created with modern operating systems, and there comes a point where older software simply cannot cope with the code for a new application

Does my Samsung TV support Disney Plus?

Lots of Samsung TVs appear every year, and hopefully, you'll remember when you bought yours. If you are not sure, here is a rough guide to find out.

The easiest way is to check in the Apps section of the Samsung Smart TV platform whether you can see the Disney Plus app there.

You can find the serial code and model number on the back of your Samsung TV or go to Menu> Support> Contact Samsung to find this information digitally on newer Samsung Smart TVs.

In an example of the model number - UN55MU7000FXZA - the two letters after "55" refer to the year in which the product was launched. "MU" means that the model was released in 2017, so all model numbers indicating MU, NU, RU or Q support Disney Plus. Model numbers that use earlier letters of the alphabet, such as "F" (2013) does not support Disney Plus.

You can find a detailed list here.

Disney Plus: finally all titles known from the start, from Star Wars to the MCU
My Samsung TV has let me down! What should I do?
If your Samsung TV isn't up to the task of hosting the Disney Plus app, you have a few alternatives.

For one, Disney Plus is available on a variety of different platforms, including smartphones, tablets, PC, Xbox One and PS4 consoles, as well as Nvidia Shield TV, Roku streaming devices, Apple TV, Sky Q, Fire TV Stick and Google Chromecast. Hisense TVs, LG TVs and Philips TVs also support Disney Plus (if you own more than one TV).

If you cannot use any of these solutions, you should still have access to other TV streaming services on your Samsung TV, such as: B. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV Plus.

Here's a quick cheat sheet for reading a Samsung label:

Example: Samsung UN55MU7000FXZA:

1. UN: Territory in which the television is offered (UN for America, UE for Europe and UA for Asia / Australia)
2. 55: screen size (this is a 55 inch TV)
3. MU: Indicates the year in which the television was manufactured (MU is a 2017 model)
4,700: The last number is the series (higher is better, but usually also more expensive)

The foldable future of mobile computing

FIRST CONCLUSION

The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Fold is finally confirmed as a real product and will be launched in 2020. However, Windows 10X is still far away, so the Lenovo X1 Fold still has a lot to prove whether it will actually be the first foldable notebook on the market.

BENEFITS

  • Impressive folding display
  • OLED at 2K resolution
  • Solid stylus support
  • Versatile use cases

DISADVANTAGE

  • Wide frame
  • Expensive

At CES 2020, the future of computers became a little more visible, and it looks like folding displays are taking over. We've seen the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Fold in May 2019, but a lot has changed since then.

We've seen foldable laptops from Microsoft, Dell, and even Intel since then, so Lenovo's bet on the future seems to be paying off. In addition, as it looks at the moment, the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Fold could be the first of its kind to actually hit the market.

It's too early in the product lifecycle to judge if the device will deliver on that promise, but you see us excited about what Lenovo has achieved so far.

Price and availability

After years of development and a first foretaste last year, we finally know how much we will reciprocate for the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Fold. And, well, it's not cheap. Allow $ 2,499 to be there. Although this is an expensive laptop - but as always with such new devices - you pay an "early adopter" tax. If you want to own one of the first foldable laptops, you will have to dig deep into your pockets.

We do not yet know the time of the market launch. Lenovo tells us "later in 2020", but we don't have a specific date. We are sure Lenovo will bring us up to date ...

Design

In this case, the folding laptop naturally uses an innie "folding display design, i.e. the display collapses because an outie" design would not make sense for use as a laptop.

In any case, the LG-made display is not coated with glass, but with plastic, since glass has not yet been developed for bending. We talked a lot to Lenovo when we tried the device at CES 2020, and we both fantasized a little about what the future of the foldable devices will look like.

The rather wide bezels are connected by a unique torsion hinge that protrudes a little from both sides of the middle part of the device, using some kind of rubberized fabric as a link for the bend. Lenovo's notebook contains a pen, and instead of a magnetic attachment, as we saw when the X1 Fold was still in the prototype phase, there is a small loop into which the pen can be inserted.

This brings us to the leather cover that spans the back of the laptop. When the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Fold is closed, a wonderful leather cover appears that feels like a book or a pouch. And when you open the laptop for use, this bag moves to make it easier to use. This is not absolutely necessary for the design of the device, but it looks very chic. And when you choose such an expensive device, aesthetics are very important.

Of course, the display will support stylus input, but it will also support multi-touch ... but the stylus Lenovo had at CES 2020 was not functional, just a dummy to give us an idea of what it would look like and so on . Lenovo says this is because the pen design isn't finished yet, which is ok, we just wished we could play around with it a bit.

The latter also works well enough, with a new touch-tip interface that is being worked on in collaboration with Microsoft, as this will be a Windows device. However, there will be no haptic feedback for the touch tips in this product, which we will surely miss.

To counteract this, Lenovo will provide a keyboard, which has not yet been tested.

Since it is a plastic panel, the reflection is a problem. We tested this device in a room without a ton of extraneous light (luckily it wasn't at the CES 2020 fair), but it could be difficult if you try to work in the park.

Ultimately, we are very impressed with the device and what it could mean for computers in the future. With support for a Bluetooth keyboard, this could really be a portable PC with a pseudo-dual screen environment that is just a twist away.

Reading e-books on this device was a particularly pleasant experience, as was watching videos on the go (i.e. on a plane). However, the screen shows the content in a 4: 3 aspect ratio, which can be unusual for all possible applications - but it didn't bother us.

Performance

Lenovo positions the Thinkpad X1 Fold as a device for professionals and executives who travel a lot, and as such, it must be able to work with the best of them. But the catch is that we don't know what is behind this laptop.

At CES, however, Lenovo told us that it is an "unannounced Intel processor", which leads us to speculate about what it could be. There are two main options here: Intel Tiger Lake and Lakefield. We rely on the latter.

The Intel Lakefield processors were introduced at CES 2019 and are the perfect candidate for a foldable laptop like this. The idea, as with telephones, is to house the entire system on a single chip. So it is very possible that the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Fold will be the first Lakefield-equipped product on the market, but only time will tell if our speculation is correct.

Lenovo is very cautious about the specs behind this foldable device. We expect it to have strong 16GB of RAM and a fast SSD, but beyond that we don't really know what it will do. Either way, we look forward to putting it to the test.

First Conclusion

Back when it was still a prototype, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold gave us an insight into what foldables would look like. And now that we know it's a real product and we've seen similar concepts and announcements from other major computer companies, we know it's a really futuristic product.

The price level is likely to keep a lot of people from jumping into this technology very early, with only managers and tech enthusiasts with deep pockets going to hit here. Lenovo knows this is the case, and is definitely targeting that audience.

So if you want to take an early look at the possible future of the computer industry, you should keep an eye on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold when it launches later in 2020. We know we will do that.

No longer the poor relative

OUR CONCLUSION

The Alpha 7 III is a brilliant camera that meets the needs of many photographers. Sony has taken some of the best features from its flagship Alpha A9 and A7R III and put them in a single camera that offers a fantastic mix of performance and image quality. You can no longer wish for the price you called.

BENEFITS

  • 693-point AF system
  • 10 FPS burst speed
  • 4K video without crop factor
  • 15 levels of dynamic range
  • 5 axis image stabilization
  • Compact, durable housing

DISADVANTAGE

  • Limited touchscreen functions
  • Only one SD slot supports UHS-II cards
  • Some screen tearing in the EVF (artifacts in the picture)
  • Bad weather protection around the accessories connections

At Sony, the Alpha A7 III forms the lower end of mirrorless system cameras with a full-frame sensor and is intended to appeal to both interested photo enthusiasts and professionals.

In the past, the A7 series has always seemed somewhat neglected compared to the A7R and A7S series. While the pixel cannon A7R and the lowlight wonder A7S set new standards in the photo and video field, the A7 series was always something as the basic model with solid features but without being particularly apparent.

That could change with the third generation of the A7. Because with a whole range of features that come from the flagships Alpha A9 (English-speaking) and Alpha A7R III (English-speaking), the Alpha A7 III no longer looks like a basic model

The features

Completely new 24.2 MP rear-illuminated sensor
5-axis image stabilizer that compensates for 5 shutter speeds
4K video with full use of the sensor width (no crop)

Sony had no ambitions to increase the resolution of the Alpha A7 III and so it remains at 24.2 MP, just like the predecessor. Nevertheless, the sensor has been completely redeveloped and offers a back-exposed structure that, together with the latest BIONZ X image processor, significantly improves sensitivity to light - compared to its predecessor. The ISO can be stretched up to 204,800 (as with the Alpha A9) and thus offers three levels more than the A7 II with its limit of “only” 25,600. Sony itself also mentions that the A7 III would reach a dynamic range of 15 levels with its 14 bit RAW files.

SONY ALPHA A7 III SPECS

  • Sensor: 24.2MP backlit full frame CMOS sensor
  • Lens mount: Sony FE
  • Screen: 3.0-inch tilt-angle touchscreen, 921,000 pixels
  • Burst shooting: 10 fps
  • Autofocus: 693-point AF
  • Video: 4K
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth
  • Battery power: 710 shots
  • Weight: 650 g

The electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 2.3 million pixels does not match the EVF of the A7R III with its 3.8 million pixels. But also the EVF of the A7 III got a slightly higher magnification factor from 0.71x to now 0.78x.

As with other recently introduced Sony cameras, the Alpha A7 III now has a touch-capable 3-inch tilt display and thus enables some essential functions such as setting the focus point and quickly navigating through the image gallery. However, the A7 III is still guilty of in-depth navigation through the camera menu via touch.

The 5-axis in-body image stabilization system of the Alpha A7 III has also been improved. This now offers a stabilization that corresponds to a shutter speed compensation by 5 levels. The predecessor had 4.5

It's not a big surprise that the A7 III can record videos in 4K. With a frame rate of 24 p, the full width of the sensor is used, with full pixel readout and without pixel binning. This processes a quantity of pixels that corresponds approximately to a 6K video resolution (2.4 times as much as is actually required for a 4K video). Only then is the material oversampled to produce a 4K video image that, according to Sony, has exceptional level of detail and depth. If you are filming at 30 frames per second, you still have a 1.2x crop option with which approximately a 5K section of the sensor is used.

Like the Alpha A7R III, the Alpha A7 III also offers a new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) profile, which enables a direct HDR workflow, so that HDR (HLG) capable televisions can display the 4K HDR image.

S-Log2 and S-Log3 are also available to enable more detailed color grading. These can be used in Full HD up to a frame rate of 120 fps.

The Alpha A7 III offers two SD card slots, but only one of them supports the faster UHS-II cards, just like the Alpha A7R III does. Sony offers Wi-Fi and NFC in the A7 III to transfer images, but no Bluetooth (which would enable an energy-saving, permanent connection between the camera and a smart device for smooth image transfer).

Construction and Handling
  • Design identical to the Alpha A7R III
  • Has a multi-selection joystick and an AF-On button
  • Dust and weatherproof

The Alpha A7 III has the same body as the Alpha A7R III, giving the A7 III the same improvements in terms of operation as its higher-resolution sister.

Although there is no special mode dial or focus mode selection, the Alpha A7 III still benefits from the new multi-selection joystick. As with the A7R III, the joystick provides a significant improvement in operation, since the AF points can now be set correctly much faster. The special AF-On button on the back of the camera is another improvement to refocus at the push of a button. The button is nicely positioned, even if we would not think it bad, if it would stand out a little more so that it is easier to use.

The rear dial is set slightly higher than on the Alpha A7 II. It is now less likely that you will change settings accidentally, because the resistance of the dial is a little larger.

Another positive influence of the A7R III is that the eye sensor for the EVF now deactivates when the screen is unfolded. This allows you to take pictures at waist level, for example, without the screen going out and the EVF going off.

In general, the case is a little wider than that of the A7 II, but feels better thanks to the improved handle. Just like the overall impression of the housing, which is mainly made of magnesium, which corresponds to that of the Alpha A7R III. However, it is not exactly the same robustness, as the back of the A7R III is also made of magnesium, but the A7 III uses plastic.

As you would expect from a camera in this price range, all important buttons and rotary knobs are protected so that dust and moisture do not stand a chance. However, just like with the A9, we found that the 3 cover tabs on the side of the Alpha A7 III (for access to most connections) do not have the high level of sealing that we hoped for. The protective flaps feel a bit flimsy, also because there doesn't seem to be any rubber seals at the same time. So you should definitely double check whether these covers are closed correctly if you want to take pictures under imperfect weather conditions.

While the menu of the A7III is as extensive as that of its predecessor, navigation in the new color-structured system is somewhat easier. Once you have set the various freely assignable buttons on the camera and made use of the various control options mounted directly on the housing, you should rarely have to delve into the actual menu.

  • Autofocus
  • Same 693 point AF system as the Alpha A9
  • 93% coverage
  • Focused to -3EV
It is rare to see a manufacturer take the top model's AF system and install it in a camera that only costs half of it. But that's exactly what Sony did with the Alpha A7 III.

The Alpha A7 III gets the same brilliant 693-point autofocus with phase detection that the Alpha A9 has.

This is a huge step compared to the now rather weak 117-point AF from the Alpha A7 II. The new system offers an impressive coverage of 93% of the image area with an additional 425 contrast detection point system for support. The autofocus works up to a weak exposure level of -3EV.

At the same time, the Alpha A7 III offers a wide range of AF modes to make focusing as simple or as detailed and dedicated to the photographer as the situation requires.

As with the Alpha A9, the tracking performance is very impressive. For example, in the continuous AF mode (AFC) and one of the sophisticated AF modes such as the lock-on: flexible point M. Although the tracking system can be confused by fast and irregular movements, the auto focus is generally very surprising and reliable . When planning a shoot full of action, there is no doubt that this camera has one of the best tracking systems. This is extremely impressive for the price of the A7 III.

In addition, the Alpha A7 III also gets Sony's latest eye autofocus. This is a great feature for portrait photography as well as for society photographers. The system focuses and follows the person's eyes in the picture, even if they briefly look down or away from the camera.

Performance

Speed of continuous shooting was doubled (compared to A7 II)
New silent shutter mode
Significantly improved battery life
In contrast to the Alpha A7 II, which could only take 5 photos per second, the Sony Alpha A7 III doubles this number to a very impressive 10 photos per second. The camera owes this performance to the front-end LSI, which is installed in the A7 III and significantly improves the performance of the camera in some areas.

The buffer capacity of the camera is a very impressive 89 compressed RAW photos (or 40 uncompressed), with JPEG files the Alpha A7 III in 10 fps mode only ends after 177 photos, a big leap forward compared to 52 JPEGs Buffer memory of the A7 II. That should be more than enough to satisfy all demands on the serial picture mode in this price category.

If you ever want to take photos discreetly or in a quiet environment, you can use the electronic shutter of the Alpha 7 III. With the Silent Mode, this offers a noiseless option without having to do without the 10 fps burst speed.

The viewfinder is large and bright, and its sharpness is very good. If we can complain at all, then a little tearing (image artifacts of several successive frames in the same image) if you move the camera back and forth too quickly.

The rear display is very good, but just like other cameras in the Sony Alpha series, there is still room for improvement when it comes to integrating menu control and setting options via the display.

The 5-axis image stabilizer of the Alpha A7 III works excellently, so that you can easily take pictures with slower shutter speeds and still get sharp images.

Sony has had long issues with battery performance, but it appears that they have overcome this vulnerability with the Alpha A7 III. The battery is said to hold 710 photos, which is a big improvement over the 350 images per battery in the Alpha A7 II. The performance of the A7 III even exceeds the 480 images per battery of the Alpha A9.

Picture Quality

Excellent ISO performance
Detailed pictures
Impressive dynamic range
As with Sony's other mirrorless full-frame 24.2 MP camera, the Alpha A9, the sensor is capable of delivering images with excellent depth of detail. As long as you don't plan to produce large format prints over A2 format, the Alpha A7 III does a stunning job. If higher resolution is required, the A7R III is an alternative (42.2 MP).

Although the sensor of the A7 III does not benefit from the stack design of the Alpha A9, with the technology adopted from the rear-exposed sensor, the Alpha A7 is also able to deliver excellent ISO performance. With standard sensitivity, the images look incredibly clean and free from noise. Even with ISO6400, the results pass an accurate inspection. You can find very fine brightness noise, but this doesn't really affect the image quality.

If you go further and use ISO 12.800, you should still get satisfactory results. The image noise in the brightness is a little stronger, but not too strong yet. One notices a color noise especially in the RAW files, which is easy to compensate for in post-processing.

The Alpha A7R III may outperform the A7 III in terms of dynamic range, but not particularly. The sensor of the A7 III offers great flexibility here; the highlights are correctly exposed and you can still easily get many details out of the shadows if you postprocess the RAW files.

Conclusion

The Alpha A7 III cannot quite match the breathtaking performance or resolution of its big brothers. Nevertheless, it is a brilliant camera that meets most of the needs of many photographers.

Sony has taken some of the best features from its flagship Alpha A9 and A7R III and put them in a single camera that offers a fantastic mix of performance and picture quality.

The 693-point autofocus is stunning, and competing cameras from other manufacturers at the same price are not nearly as mature as the Alpha A7 III. The 10 fps burst speed should also meet most needs. The 24.2 MP full-frame sensor, illuminated from the rear, delivers consistently excellent results throughout the ISO range, while the dynamic range is no less impressive.

Meanwhile, the further developed housing, which comes from the Alpha A7R III, allows a significantly more comfortable handling than its predecessor and the possibility to shoot 4K videos without crop makes the A7 III a very versatile camera.

Of course there is still room for improvement, such as more setting and control options via touchscreen or a reduction in tearings in the EVF. We are also a bit skeptical about the weather protection on the accessory ports - but Sony apparently thinks they did enough to protect the inside of the camera from the weather.

However, these complaints are only small aspects and fade when you look at the really large amount of features of the Alpha A7 III. For the price of this camera you can no longer wish for.

Competitor

Canon EOS 6D Mark II

Canon's full-frame DSLR is a solid camera, but cannot keep up with the Alpha A7 III in terms of performance. A serial image speed of 6.5 frames per second and a very conservative 45-point auto focus are no comparison to the A7 III. The dynamic range could also be better with the Canon.

You can buy unlimited Apple Gadgets again

Are you looking for new gadgets from Apple? The good news: you can now buy as many iPhones, Macs or iPads as you want and need.

Apple has put restrictions on some of its products due to the Covid 19 crisis, but the company has now lifted those limits. This cancellation of the purchase limit was discovered by MacRumors.

However, they still seem to be in force in China, but they have been adopted in other countries.

Which is the best iPhone?

Previously, you were limited to two iPhones per customer, and the new iPad 2020 models also had this limit.

This limit was set in the US and some other regions for the first time since the original iPhone was launched in 2007.

The new MacBook Air was also limited (as was the Mac Mini *), but you could still order five of these products before Apple stopped buying.

Other manufacturers may impose product restrictions on their inventory, and there is no guarantee that Apple will not reinstate those restrictions as inventories decrease worldwide.

However, Foxconn, one of Apple's key manufacturing partners in China, recently announced that it has returned to full capacity and reopened all of its factories in the country.

Do you want to buy a new iPhone? Then you will find a selection of the best offers below:

Clean your smartphone properly: protect yourself from Covid-19

There are three common pieces of advice on minimizing the spread of the coronavirus issued by organizations such as the NHS and WHO. If you have to sneeze, hold a handkerchief in front of it or sneeze in the crook of your arm. Avoid contact with sick people and wash your hands - often and with soap.

Your cell phone complicates the last point. No matter how much you disinfect your hands, bacteria and viruses that are on your smartphone may get back on your hands as soon as you check WhatsApp or Instagram.

Few of us clean our phones regularly. We should have started much earlier!

Coronavirus: Apple is changing its official stance - you can now disinfect your iPhone
A 2011 study by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine found that every sixth phone analyzed showed traces of feces. And you want to make sure that your cell phone is free of nauseating bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Acinetobacter spp. as well as Covid-19.

A professor dealing with infectious diseases said to TechRadar:

"Good hygiene and disinfection of regularly touched objects such as door handles, surfaces and telephones is essential because it is very easy to transfer the virus to your clean hands by doing something touched someone who was near or who was carrying the virus. "

Smartphone Cleaning Methods

But what should we use to clean our phones?
You can use the same substances that you use to clean your hands, but some are better than others. The best advice at the moment is to dampen a lint-free cloth (made of microfiber), how to use it to clean glasses, add some soap, and wipe the phone and its case thoroughly.

Soap and water are a highly effective team

"Water itself does not inactivate or 'kill' viruses, but simply washes them away," says the professor with whom we spoke. "Soap is far superior because it contains fat-like substances. Viruses themselves consist of genetic material, proteins and fats. When soap interacts with viruses, the fat-like substances in soap compete with the virus lipids and cause the virus to be broken down. "

This is better than using the popular antibacterial hand gels.
"Alcohol gels are different because instead they contain a high concentration of alcohol, ethanol, which kills viruses," says the professor. "A bonus of the soap, however, is that you can cover a large surface when washing with water, so it is always preferable to use soap and water when possible. If not, then alcohol gel is good with a good technique."

However, be careful when washing your smartphone with an alcoholic solution. Wipes and gels with a very high alcohol concentration can damage the oil-repellent layer used to prevent obvious oily fingerprint stains on your phone's touchscreen.

Does your phone have a screen protector? Some higher-end models have their own oleophobic coating, but the inexpensive triple pack you bought on Amazon or eBay is probably little more than a thin plastic sheet with an adhesive side.

All smartphone manufacturers also recommend avoiding cleaning solutions that contain bleach or abrasives and refraining from using coarse cloths. These can damage the surface of the metal sides of a phone and cause micro-abrasion in the glass, making the surface dull. We are concerned with cleaning the phone, not ruining it.

UV virus zapping

If you want, you can also use "high-tech" to free your smartphone from viruses. Companies like PhoneSoap and Homedics manufacture UV disinfection devices for phones. These are reminiscent of small sunbeds and they bathe the cell phones in ultraviolet light.

Even Samsung stores * now offer free disinfection of your phone in some places using a similar method.

"Sunlight also inactivates the corona virus, hence the concept of UV-based cleaning kits," says the professor. "Just keep in mind that this approach slowly inactivates the virus over time, while soap and disinfectants do it almost immediately.

"There are many other products on the market that claim to kill the corona virus, but it is cheaper and easier to maintain good hygiene, wash your hands with soap, and use disinfectants."

This is good news for your wallet. UV cleaning devices for smartphones are much more expensive than a bar of soap.

Water versus smartphone

We also advise you, as always, to be careful with water near your phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S20, iPhone 11, Huawei Mate 30 Pro and many others have been tested for water resistance. These special models have IP68 protection, which means that they are designed to be immersed in fresh water at a depth of 1.5 m for 30 minutes.

Most of us, however, have dropped your smartphone at some point. And that may have affected the little rubber seals that keep the water out of the inside of the phone. Be sure to keep water away from the sockets on your phone. Liquid can also leak through damaged display glass from damaged screens and cause worse problems.

How long do viruses survive on a mobile phone? Long enough so that there is no excuse for careful hygiene, especially in the case of Covid-19.

"Some viruses can only survive outside the body for a very short time because they are so dependent on nutrition or certain physiological conditions (e.g. HIV), while others can survive longer," says the professor.

"Research into the coronavirus suggests that it remains viable for up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard, and up to 2-3 days on plastic and stainless steel. All of this is affected by the environment."

If the corona virus can survive for days on at least parts of your smartphone, now is a good time to start cleaning it regularly, as well as your hands. Are you worried about where to get the latest health advice? Visit, for example, the website of the Robert Koch Institute or the Federal Ministry of Health.

Now, what's the easiest way to clean your phone?

Prepare a bowl of hot (but not boiling) soapy water. Only use household soap, otherwise the coating on your cell phone could be damaged.
Now take your phone and be sure to remove the protective case if you're using one. Turn it off before you start cleaning.
Do not submerge your smartphone unless your phone is IP68 waterproof. (But even then, we recommend not submerging it completely.)
Take a cloth and dampen it with soapy water.
Now gently rub your phone with the cloth and make sure you reach every corner you can reach. If you have a case, do the same with it.
Make sure that the water does not get into the openings of the phone, e.g. the charging socket or the speaker grille, penetrates.
Then wipe the phone dry with a clean microfiber cloth.
Let your smartphone dry out completely before turning it on again. Repeat this method as many times as necessary.

Record everything that happens on my display

There are many reasons to record your screen. Regardless of whether you use a Windows PC, a Mac, a smartphone or a tablet - you can create Let's Play videos for YouTube and a software tutorial or prepare a presentation for work.

You would probably start looking for a free free screen recorder and there are some excellent options. But: You can save yourself this, because: Windows already has its own built-in recording program, which is hidden in the pre-installed Xbox app.

You can also record your screen in a browser window without having to download and install a large program. It all depends on what you're recording, what hardware you're using, and how much time you have.

Once you're done, you can either share the recording as is or make some adjustments with a free video editor - such as shortening the clip, adding titles, or recording a voiceover.

How to: Record Screen in Windows

It's really well hidden, but Windows 10 has its own built-in screen recorder that's meant for game recording. To find it, open the pre-installed Xbox app (type Xbox in the search field), then tap [Windows] + [G] on your keyboard and click 'Yes, this is a game'.

Click on 'Start recording' or press the [Windows] + [Alt] + [R] keys to start and use the same key combination when you are finished. You can find recorded videos saved in the Videos / Capture folder in MP4 format.

To customize the program's settings, log into the Xbox app and access the Game DVR options. While you can't set a destination folder for your recording, you can choose a quality setting, decide whether you want to record audio or not, and set a maximum clip length.

Unfortunately, not all Windows 10 devices can record material with the Game Bar. In order to be able to use these, you need a graphics card that supports the following encoders:

Intel Quick Sync H.260
Nvidia NVENC
AMD VCE

How to Record Screen on Mac

Capturing the screen is much easier on Mac than on a Windows PC. If you're using macOS Mojave, press Shift + ⌘ + 5 and all the controls for capturing video and still images on your desktop will be displayed. Record the entire screen, a section or just a certain window and then cut the material, save it or share it.

Are you using an older version of macOS? Then you can record your display with the Quicktime Player. Just open the app (installed by default).

How to Record screen on Android

Android 10 comes with its own screen recorder. You can find this if you go to the 'Settings' menu and select 'Via phone'. Tap the version number seven times and enter your release dates when prompted. As a result, your smartphone is in developer mode and you can now test functions that are not yet fully finished.

Return to System Preferences, tap on 'Developer Options' and select 'Feature flags'. Search for 'settings_screenrecord_long_press' and flip the switch to activate it. You can now record your screen at any time - to do this, press the power button and call up the battery settings, hold down the screenshot button until the screen capture options appear.

If you use Android Pie (and earlier versions), you need a third-party screen recorder app from the Google Play Store. Such apps are very popular - you will therefore find many free and cheap apps.

Do you want to record Let's Plays? Google Play Games has a built-in recorder that starts recording automatically when you start a game. For everything else, we recommend the AZ Screen Recorder. How to Record screen on iPhone or iPad

Recording the screen on an iPhone or iPad is also easy. Go to 'Settings'> 'Control Center'> 'Customize Controls' and tap the green plus next to 'Screen Capture'.

Open the app you want to record. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or from the top right to the bottom if you have an iPhone X and newer or an iPad with iOS 12 or iPadOS. Now press the record button (a dot within a circle) and 'Microphone' - a three-second countdown begins, and when it ends, recording starts.

To stop recording, tap the red status bar at the top of the screen and press 'Stop'. Or go to the 'Control Center' again and select the red record button (the point within a circle).

You can find your screen capture in the Photo app.

Keep in mind that any notifications you get while recording will also appear in your recording.
