Dacia plans to sell its first electric car from 2021. The price is likely to be exciting, a comparable electric car is sold by Dacia's parent company Renault for the equivalent of 10,000 euros.

Dacia presented its first electric car. Initially, only as a study, the resulting electric car will be sold from 2021.

The show car now presented is called "Spring Electric". Dacia describes the vehicle as a "compact five-door", which is intended as a purely electric car for urban use. The car has four seats and offers the SUV look that is obviously in demand by many customers today, combined with somewhat increased ground clearance and corresponding front and rear design. The Spring Electric is of course - like so many SUVs - not an off-road vehicle! Other features include LED headlights with LED taillights. Dacia states a theoretical range according to WLTP of around 200 kilometers.

As usual from Dacia, the Spring Electric should have a piece of "everyday equipment” and be a “robust construction” that Dacia wants to offer at an “affordable price” typical of the company. Dacia customers would not accept anything else, because the special feature and the main incentive to buy Dacia vehicles is their low price. Even if Dacia has not yet revealed the specific price, you can definitely expect a model that is very attractive in price compared to competing models.

Dacia benefits from the many years of experience of its parent company Renault in its first electric car. Because Renault has been selling Zoe, one of the most successful electric cars in Europe, for many years. So Dacia did not have to start from scratch but can go deep into the corporate kit.

In fact, the Spring Electric is reminiscent of the Renault City K-ZE, which the French only offer in China. The City K-ZE is just over 3.70 meters long and is powered by a 33 kW motor. Its range according to the old NEDC is around 270 km. This vehicle costs the equivalent of 10,000 euros in China. Dacia will certainly not be able to offer the Spring Electric in Europe for this competitive price, but Dacia has to undercut the competition from VW and Co. in any case.
