An overview of the best iPhones you can currently buy.
In 2019, Apple completely redesigned its iPhone range and presented three new models: the iPhone 11 , the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max . Until the iPhone 12 comes on the market in September 2020 , these are the latest iPhones that you can currently buy.
As expected, these three new premium smartphones top the list of the best iPhone and displace the 2018 iPhone XS range and all previous Apple smartphones.
The best iPhones are certainly the new iPhone 11 phones, but in what order do they rank? And what are the best iPhones from the past years that still hold? Take a look at our list and discover what our extensive tests have shown.
With the launch of the iPhone 11 series, Apple's official iPhone line-up was also redesigned, and now there is a range of devices that covers all price ranges - and a graveyard of retired devices.
The 'discontinued' iPhones are still available from various retailers and network operators and there are certainly interesting iPhone offers, but the 'official' devices will be easier to get.
Naming the best iPhone doesn't just mean comparing specifications, because value and usability are not that easy to define - and even these metrics can change because the best iPhone deals can affect the price-performance ratio of any device.
Instead, we took the time to use each iPhone extensively to compare all the features and features that new and older iPhones offer. We took pictures with their cameras, played a lot of games and weighed the value you get for the price.
Here is our list of the best iPhones currently available on the market:

High-quality
High speed at an affordable price
Ultra wide-angle lens is far better than a telephoto lens
Still LCD display
The glass back attracts fingerprints
The iPhone 11 is not the Apple phone with the highest specifications, but it is a more than worthy successor to the previous "budget flagship" iPhone XR.
A telephoto lens is missing, but as we found on the Samsung Galaxy S10e, a combination of main and ultra-wide-angle lenses meets most photo needs. Even if it doesn't have an OLED display, the LCD screen allows the phone to keep at least the best battery life of the generation. And it gets even a little more RAM - up to 4 GB from the 3 GB of its predecessor.
With iOS 13 and all the new functions of the iPhone 11 series, this cell phone is a slim, ingenious photo machine - and all for 799 EUR, the cheapest iPhone that has come onto the market since the iPhone 8.

2. iPhone 11 Pro
Almost the best, but a little too expensive.
Weight: 188 g Dimensions: 144 x 71.4 x 8.1 mm | OS: iOS 13 | Display: 5.8 inches | Resolution: 1,125 x 2,436 | CPU: A13 Bionic | RAM: 4 GB | Memory: 64/256/512 GB | Battery: 3,046 mAh | rear cameras: 12 MP + 12 MP + 12 MP | Front camera: 12 MP
Really advanced cameraExtensive battery improvementsVisually like the iPhone XSFew non-camera upgrades
The iPhone 11 Pro is a higher quality smartphone than the base iPhone 11, but it's not the best iPhone because of its high price.
Sure, the smaller display is one-handed, the screen quality is a bonus, and it's Apple's cheapest phone with three rear cameras, so all in all a decent phone - that's why it ranks second in our list of our best iPhones!
But money is an issue for most people when they're looking for a new smartphone, and the big price jump may be questionable for many if you compare the key figures with the iPhone 11.

3. iPhone 11 Pro Max
Big phone, great phone, great price
Weight: 226 g Dimensions: 158 x 77.8 x 8.1 mm | OS: iOS 13 | Display: 6.5 inches | Resolution: 1,242 x 2,688 | CPU: A13 Bionic | RAM: 4 GB | Memory: 64/256/512 GB | Battery: unknown | rear cameras: 12 MP + 12 MP + 12 MP | Front camera: 12 MP
Three rear cameras
Fastest and best iPhone on the market
Even bigger battery
Expensive
Almost unchanged from its predecessor
The iPhone 11 Pro Max isn't just a confusing change in naming conventions - it's the largest, fastest, and most powerful iPhone on the market. It is also the most expensive with a starting price of EUR 1,249, which increases when you expand the storage space.
Not much has changed compared to the iPhone XS Max, apart from the improved camera suite - but on the other hand, adding an ultra-wide lens is a big plus. The photo software has also been updated, and switching between zoom levels is much smoother here than on other phones.
According to Apple, the battery life has been improved by an astonishing 4 hours compared to the iPhone XS Max. And if you can see beyond the really weird looking triple lens camera block, this is really the most powerful iPhone on the market.

4. iPhone 8
The latest 4.7-inch iPhone is a phone that is still very popular
Weight: 148 g Dimensions: 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm | OS: iOS 11 | Display: 4.7 inches | Resolution: 750 x 1,334 | CPU: A11 Bionic | RAM: 2 GB | Storage: 64/256 GB | Battery: 1,821 mAh | rear camera: 12 MP | Front camera: 7 MP
Wireless charging makes sense
Great snapshot camera
Only a few improvements to the iPhone 7
Design with a wide frame looks dated
It's actually Apple's best-selling iPhone for several good reasons. First, we understood, you refused to diverge from the iPhone's 4.7-inch screen size, and frankly, we don't blame you. Every time we use this iPhone with "normal" dimensions, we have the feeling that we have just vacationed on a smartphone. Second, its price is much cheaper than that of the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus.
Just because the size is the same as the old iPhones does not mean that the technology behind it is the same. The iPhone 8 has the same A11 Bionic chipset as the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, and it also introduced wireless charging and fast charging on an Apple smartphone for the first time.
The camera is still awesome, even if it doesn't have the dual lens capabilities that only the X and Plus have, and you'll like iOS 11 even more at this size than the even smaller iPhone SE.
5. iPhone 8 Plus
A more affordable iPhone with a big screen
Weight: 202 g Dimensions: 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mm | OS: iOS 11 | Display: 5.5 inches | Resolution: 1,080 x 1,920 | CPU: A11 Bionic | RAM: 3 GB | Storage: 64/256 GB | Battery: 2,691 mAh | rear cameras: 12 MP + 12 MP | Front camera: 7 MP
Wireless charging
Longer battery life
Outdated design
Expensive
The iPhone 8 Plus is the best iPhone if you don't need biometric unlocking. It remains popular due to its screen size, lower price, and physical home button.
However, it does have some important features that you will like. It is one of the first iPhones to have both wireless charging and fast charging, and the camera has been improved. The dual lens camera doesn't have an OIS in the telephoto lens (a feature used on the X), but it's still a great way to take a photo from a distance.
Its frame-heavy design isn't exactly the eye-catcher, but the iPhone 8 Plus is the iPhone that was built for big hands and slightly smaller wallets than the newer iPhone X.
