Xbox Series X shift unlikely After Microsoft gets the Supply Chain Going Again

The Xbox Series X is slated to be launched in late 2020, but due to the Covid 19 pandemic, there have been rumors that the next Xbox's release date will be delayed. Fortunately, it looks like this will not be the case.

In an interview with CNBC (via GamesRadar), asking whether Microsoft would still be able to deliver products by 2020, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said: "The supply chain is starting up again".

It's welcome news as fans and analysts feared that the next generation console would be delayed - along with other upcoming Microsoft products like the Surface Duo.

Much of Microsoft's production is in China, the country most affected by the corona virus. But as the Asian outbreak gradually subsides and manufacturers get back on track, it seems that Microsoft has been able to avoid major delays.

However, the company is still financially affected by the pandemic. In a February update, Microsoft revealed that the corona virus has affected Windows OEM and Surface products "more than previously thought" and the company does not expect to reach its financial forecast for the third quarter of this year.

"We have an excellent balance sheet, we are a very diverse company, we have a mix of annual and non-annual payments that is even stronger than last time we were in a financial crisis," Nadella told CNBC when he was asked how the company is doing in the midst of the pandemic. "I am confident that, frankly, we will get out of this crisis fairly well."

It's not confirmed that we won't see Xbox Series X delayed - but it looks rather unlikely. It remains to be seen whether there will be any delays in Surface products, as the company announced in its report last month that the "Personal Computing" division was affected.

What about a PS5 delay?

There has also been speculation about a delay in the PS5, but a Sony PR recently told Dutch magazine LetsGoDigital that the PS5's release date has not changed due to the evolving global situation.

While it looks like both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will hit the market in late 2020 as planned, it's worth noting that the situation is evolving and could change.
