Judging by leaked specifications, this could be the king of bargains
Intel's 10th generation Comet Lake * desktop CPUs will hopefully be released soon (although we may have to wait until June *), but it is possible that the smallest of the next generation could be the most interesting - as incredibly tempting cheaper Gaming processor.
The Core i3-10100 may be at the lower end of the Comet Lake CPU hierarchy, but according to a leak from the SiSoft Sandra database (again spotted by the attentive Tum_Apisak), this chip has a similar specification to the Core i7-6700K - a highly valued and still excellent processor for games.
As PC GamesN *, who discovered this tweet, emphasizes, the respective specifications are very similar - both the i3-10100 and the i7-6700K have four cores and eight threads, the former having a base clock of 3.6 GHz and a gain to 4.3 GHz, provided, of course, that this leak is correct.

In comparison, the 6700K has a 4.2 GHz boost, so you could actually get more power with the Comet Lake i3, even though the older Skylake chip has a higher base clock (4 GHz).
One of the tweet's commentators even said he was crying for his i7-7700K.
The whole point here is that Intel's i7-6700K was offered at a price of $ 350 * (back in 2015), and although we obviously don't know what the Core i3-10100's price will be, the prospect is that it will will be surprisingly low compared to that number.
In fact, it will likely cost around a third of it, and will likely be around $ 120 (given that the Core i3-9100 has an official list price of $ 122). Maybe - just maybe - it might even be a little cheaper considering the pressure Intel is now under with AMD's incredibly successful Ryzen 3000 processors * (with the Ryzen 4000 now emerging on the horizon).
Bargain attack
Intel has to do something, and in addition to the flagship 10-core Comet Lake offering in the high-end range, its strategy may be similar to a pair of pliers, with the Core i3-10100 being a compelling attack on the other end - the budget sector of the desktop CPU market - represents.
The processor speed is indeed very high, but there are some caveats, including upgraders having to consider that they need a new motherboard (with a LGA 1200 socket *) to be compatible with the Comet Lake processors.
While quad-core processors are still good for many games, there are titles that ideally require more than four cores, and many players are looking for multi-core specifications that go well beyond four cores. From the perspective of future security, quad-core is obviously not ideal either.
However, you have to keep in mind that this is an inexpensive gaming CPU, and what can you expect for a little over a hundred dollars? If the rumors about the specs at the price are right, Intel could bring out a stormy and affordable processor for those who want to build a cheap gaming PC that doesn't sink.
